The forklift is an essential piece of machinery in most companies that operate warehouses, distribution centers, industrial and storage handling plants. This wonder machine, the forklift is constructed of many components, such as the important carriage, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Forklifts usually have a range of attachments also. The following are a few of the most essential lift truck components.
Engine of the Lift Truck - At the rear of the machinery, the forklift has its power source. The various types of engine on the lift truck will require varying power sources. Like for example, a lift truck with an IC engine could have as its power source any of the following: LP gas, CNG gas, diesel or gasoline. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Frame of The Truck - The frame of the truck is the base of the forklift and the most essential of all the forklift components. This forms the core of the machine. All other forklift components are connected to the base, like the wheels, axles, mast overhead guard and counterweight. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks can also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Lift Truck Parts - the counterweight is what allows the machinery to be balanced while lifting heavy loads. This component is made of heavy cast iron and is attached to the rear-end of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck in order to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. In an electric lift truck, the heavy lead-acid battery provides balance and could function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the equipment. Several forklifts have a cab area which is open to the air and several have closed cabs. There are many parts situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such important parts like the pedals, seats, levers, switches, steering wheel and operator controls. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
