Types of Hydraulic Cranes
Among the most common cranes in the construction business is hydraulic cranes. They are used to make everything from freeway overpasses and roadways to skyscrapers and buildings.
Cranes come in a huge variety of units, styles and sizes. These different units allow both the operators and owners to perform many more functions within their industry. Choosing the right type of crane is vital for making sure that the material could be transported efficiently and safely to the location it has to get to in order for the construction process to begin.
Truck Cranes
Truck cranes will typically have 2 different cabs. One cab is used to drive the truck unit when in transport mode, whilst the other is for controlling the crane. These cranes are very helpful for building sites where a crane is required in many different places for the duration of the build. This is because of the fact that the crane can be driven easily from one place to another.
Cranes can also be transported to various construction sites on the road because they drive themselves, which eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own really lessens transport costs at the end of the day.
The truck crane on the other hand is not stable enough to handle all the major loads which a hydraulic crane could handle. Therefore, in order to fix this problem, outriggers could be extended from the deck. The outriggers utilize hydraulic pressure to be able to slightly lift the truck off of the ground, making it balanced and stable.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
The crawler crane is unique in that it has big tracks on the base of the crane. These huge tracks are really like backhoes and bulldozers. The tracks enable the crane to move around a construction locations successfully.
