Reach Truck
In order to keep storage areas orderly and to stock up pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck comes in quite a few models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The forks of the truck slide beneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet deep.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is similar to the stand-up, is frequently used. This version consists of telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This particular version is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Inside most warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and can maximize available storage space while increasing production.
