Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by various sources. They could run from gasoline, liquid propane or LP gas, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for many uses. There are some facilities which have large liquid propane supplies on site. This allows forklifts to be refueled anytime they require. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders which can be changed out when the machinery should be refueled.
In order to prevent potentially serious injury, specific precautions should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For example: be certain to wear the correct safety equipment like goggles or safety glasses and heavy gloves. Turn off the ignition of the forklift before changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed firmly. Utilize your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it will turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use a metal tool or any type of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
